We see the power of voice tone and everything that happens around the content you say in the first ever instance of Torah teaching. Mount Sinai. As the Midrash tells us, God appears on the mountaintop in front of Israel and says the words “I am God” and they all drop dead from the sheer pleasure of hearing His voice. Wouldn’t it be crazy if that happened to you? People swooning and whooping with pure joy after you merely say one thing? How do we get to that level?
Let’s take it further and maybe we’ll see. Did God give a philosophical extrapolation and wow us with his incisive intellectual prowess? No. Did God cry and give an emotional plea to keep the Torah? No. Did God read the words “Four score and seven years ago” off an index card. No way. He just said a simple statement, but there was something about the TONE of His voice, how He said it that made this simple declaration so powerful.
Yes that’s Hashem and we are not Him. But we are commanded to learn from Him and to walk in His ways. Although we may not be able to even cause people to faint when hearing our voices, we can touch their hearts by working to develop our voices as much as we are able. We don’t need to become “amazing”, we just need to get better.
